Eden and South Lakes Business Advisers gain national seal of approval

13th October 2010

Business Advisers working in Eden and South Lakes have successfully achieved accreditation from SFEDI, the nationally-recognised standard for business support professionals.

Four advisers from Cumbria Rural Enterprise Agency (CREA) gained the Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative (SFEDI) accreditation in order to assure clients that they are receiving the highest standard of support available.

SFEDI is the industry-recognised accreditation standard which provides a consistent standard of best practice in business support, and fosters a culture of ongoing learning and improvement amongst advisers. They must provide proof that they are working to the highest industry standards, and that accreditation enables them to develop new skills, identify areas where they need training and development, and improve their knowledge of business. Advisers must be re-assessed every two years.

Paul Warren, CREA Business Adviser, said, ‘the business support industry is broad, and the standard of support can be variable. SFEDI has allowed me to realise the opportunities that business advice can provide to clients, giving assurance in the quality of our advice and ultimately helping enable businesses to successfully start and existing businesses to develop’.
