The Rural Planning Advisers are all qualified planners with local knowledge and experience of rural planning in the region. They work alongside Farm Advisers who work for the Farm Business Advice Service and with Business Advisers, to enhance the current client-oriented, integrated approach to advice and business support.

Your Planning Adviser will:

- Contact you and arrange a meeting on site to discuss your proposal.
- Liaise with your Farm\Business Adviser, where appropriate.
- Consult with the Local Planning Authority and other Agencies.
- Prepare a full Planning Assessment Report with recommendations about how to take your ideas and development proposals forward. The report will be sent to you in confidence.

The Rural Planning Facilitation Service is innovative. Building on the experience and expertise of successful rural business advisory services and initiatives in Cumbria, it aims to work with farmers looking to diversify and small rural enterprises to generate ideas which are financially viable, environmentally sound and acceptable in planning terms.
